What Exactly is an Air Scrubber?

Avery Cleaning will make sure that you are on a safe side.

When water damage goes unchecked, mold growth can run rampant, creating allergens, toxins and infectious disease growing environments right in your home or business.  This kind of situation calls for the specialized treatment equipment.

As contaminants become airborne, infiltrate ventilation and begin to affect breathing quality, air treatment equipment uses its specialized design to clean gases, organic particulates (such as pollen, mold or bacteria) and inorganic particulates (such as asbestos, dusts or ash.) Regardless of the contaminant, we always recommend removing the source substance before air scrubbing treatment can be fully effective.

Air scrubbers, or air filtration devices are enclosed units housing a motor, fan and filters. They suck an airstream through several layered filters to prevent overloading the final, most important HEPA filter. Larger particulates are trapped in these primary and secondary filters so that the smaller, more insidious contaminants may move on to be caught in the HEPA.

Air scrubbers work according to how many cubic feet of air per minute (cfm) they can process. Depending on the specific contaminant situation, positive, negative or neutral pressure can all be created with the scrubber. They can also be set to recycle or filter air within a home or business.

Below is the description of the Air Filtration Device (AFD) by Mytee

Activated carbon is one example of sorption filter, which is used to scrub airborne gases from the air. Gases can only be removed a portion at a time, and the contaminated air must pass through a sorption filter multiple times to be effective. In addition to gases, sorption filters operating in very humid environments also over absorb water vapor and become less effective in their capacity to remove airborne gases.

One last thing to consider is that cavities housing water damage and contamination, even when dried out with ventilation fans can create their own problem. When these wall spaces and typically closed spaces are opened up to allow ventilation and drying fans, tons of dust can be lifted from inside the walls and insulation.

For this reason, Avery Cleaning always uses AFDs to filter air, sometimes creating containment boxes over that area to prevent further spread of contamination or dust.
